Join Catholic men where we take responsibility for learning, living, strengthening, and sharing our faith.

Our Lady of Good Counsel OLGC Men's Prayer Breakfast

The Regular Joe Men's Prayer Breakfast is a collection of everyday “Regular Joes” who want to learn more about the Catholic faith and discuss the common issues that face all men.

We are Catholic men inviting other men to a comfortable, confidential environment where we take responsibility to learn our faith, share our faith, strengthen our faith, and live our faith so that we may grow to be better men, husbands, fathers, uncles, brothers and followers of Jesus Christ.

Many members have never attended any other “church-related event” outside of Mass, while others are far along in their faith journey.  Whatever the case is with you, you’ll feel welcome!  While not a true prayer group, bible study or men’s club, they have elements of all.

Newcomers are always welcome! This group meets weekly on most Wednesday mornings from 5:45 - 7:00 AM in the Our Lady of Good Counsel parish Social Hall.  How to join or find out more information? Learn more here.

Below is the book the group will be reading and discussing November, 29, 2023 through January 10, 2024. Receive a 15% discount off your purchase by adding the coupon code REGJOE15 upon checkout. You can choose to have the book delivered to pick up at an upcoming breakfast meeting, pick up yourself at the store, or have it shipped to you (additional cost). We are extending the order and discount date to MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2023, as the last day to place an order, receive the 15% discount, and receive the book by the Wednesday, November 15, 2023 meeting.

Unoffendable Bible Study Guide Plus Streaming Video: How Just One Change Can Make All of Life Better

Unoffendable Bible Study Guide Plus Streaming Video: How Just One Change Can Make All of Life Better
Hansen, Brant
$21.99

BEING UNOFFENDABLE IS A CHOICE

It's a provocative idea: We are not entitled to get offended or stay angry at other people. The idea of our own "righteous anger" is a myth. Instead, the Bible calls every follower of Christ to do something radical and countercultural: Let go of our anger and forgive.

As it turns out, giving up our right to be offended is one of the most freeing, healthy, relaxing, refreshing, stress-relieving, and encouraging things we can do. It allows us to recognize that people are broken and stop being scandalized by their actions. It enables us to accept people and stop judging them. It creates a way for us to not just love others but to actually like them.

In this six-session Bible study, based on the bestselling book of the same name, Brant Hansen shares practical ways to live life with less stress and more care by becoming unoffendable. In his highly entertaining style, he seeks to lift the religious burdens from our backs and allow us to experience the joy of gratitude every day of our lives--flourishing the way God intended.

This study guide includes:

  • Individual access to six streaming video sessions
  • A "how to use this guide" section
  • Video notes and a comprehensive structure for group discussion time
  • Personal study for deeper reflection between sessions
  • Sessions and video run times:

    1. The Myth of Righteous Anger (18:00)
    2. What Humans Are Like (18:00)
    3. The Physiological Effects of Anger (18:00)
    4. What About Injustice? (18:00)
    5. How to Actually Do This (17:30)
    6. The Difference It Makes (18:00)

This study guide has everything you need for a full Bible study experience, including:

  • The study guide itself--with discussion and reflection questions, video notes, and a leader's guide.
  • An individual access code to stream all video sessions online. (You don't need to buy a DVD!)

Unoffendable, now revised and updated with two new chapters, gives you a concrete, practical way to live life with less stress. In our easily offended, cancel-culture society, learn how to replace perpetual frustration and anger with refreshing humility and gratitude.

It turns out giving up your "right" to be offended can be one of the most freeing, healthy, simplifying, relaxing, refreshing, stress-relieving, encouraging things you can do. It's a radical, provocative idea: We're not entitled to get offended or stay angry. The idea of our own "righteous anger" is a myth. It is the number one problem in our societies today and, as Dallas Willard says, Christians have not been taught out of it. But what if Christians were the most unoffendable people on the planet?

In Unoffendable you will find concrete, practical ways to live life with less stress, including:

  • Adjusting your expectations to fit human nature
  • Replacing perpetual anger with refreshing humility and gratitude
  • Embracing forgiveness and beginning to love others in unexpected ways
  • Newly revised with two brand-new chapters on forgiveness and what Hansen has learned since writing his original book, this updated edition of the bestselling book is a must-read for every Christian. With short chapters, this book is easy to slip into a daily routine or commute to spend time deepening in God's Word. In a humorous and conversational style, ?Unoffendable?seeks to lift religious burdens from our backs and allow us to experience the joy of gratitude, perhaps for the first time, every single day of our lives--flourishing the way God intended.
