Join Catholic men where we take responsibility for learning, living, strengthening, and sharing our faith.
Our Lady of Good Counsel's Men's Prayer Breakfast is a collection of everyday “Regular Joes” who want to learn more about the Catholic faith and discuss the common issues that face all men. Many members have never attended any other “church-related event” outside of Mass, while others are far along in their faith journey. Whatever the case is with you, you’ll feel welcome! While not a true prayer group, bible study or men’s club, they have elements of all.
The OLGC Men's Prayer Breakfast mission is "Catholic men inviting men to a comfortable environment where we take responsibility for learning, living, strengthening, and sharing our faith, which will in turn make us better men, leaders, husbands, fathers, and followers of Jesus Christ.”
Newcomers are always welcome! This group meets weekly on most Wednesday mornings from 6:00 until 7:00 AM in the Our Lady of Good Counsel parish Social Hall.

Calming the Storm: Navigating the Crises Facing the Catholic Church and Society
Today, the Catholic Church is dealing with many complex problems that often leave the faithful confused about the authentic interpretation of Catholic teaching.
In Calming the Storm: Navigating the Crises Facing the Catholic Church and Society, experienced Vatican journalist Diane Montagna conducts a wide-ranging and trenchant interview with Fr. Gerald E. Murray that examines the root causes of and potential solutions to the many challenges the Church faces today.
Fr. Murray's insights provide sure guidance in understanding the Church's teaching on
- the indissolubility of marriage,
- homosexuality and gender ideology,
- the worthy reception of Holy Communion,
- the value of the Traditional Latin Mass,
- the horror of the sexual abuse of minors by Catholic clergy,
- the responsibility of bishops to uphold—not contradict—the Catholic Faith,
- and the duty of all Catholics to remain faithful to the teachings handed down from the apostles.
Fr. Murray's analysis highlights that while Christianity is under siege in the modern world, our Faith teaches us to have confidence in God's never-failing providence. Renewing our minds and hearts in the truths that Christ and His Church teaches us brings true peace of soul. Amidst the maelstrom of doctrinal confusion and worldliness in the Church, Christ alone calms the storm when, like the Apostles, we turn to him in confidence and faith.

Case for Jesus: The Biblical and Historical Evidence for Christ
- Are the Gospels folklore? Or are they biographies?
- Were the four Gospels written too late to be reliable?
- What about the so-called "Lost Gospels," such as "Q" and the Gospel of Thomas?
- Did Jesus claim to be God?
- Is Jesus divine in all four Gospels? Or only in John?
- Did Jesus fulfill the Jewish prophecies of the Messiah?
- Why was Jesus crucified?
- What is the evidence for the Resurrection? As The Case for Jesus will show, recent discoveries in New Testament scholarship, as well as neglected evidence from ancient manuscripts and the early church fathers, together have the potential to pull the rug out from under a century of skepticism toward the traditional Gospels. Above all, Pitre shows how the divine claims of Jesus of Nazareth can only be understood by putting them in their ancient Jewish context.

Interior Freedom
Interior Freedom leads one to discover that even in the most difficult circumstances we possess within ourselves a space of freedom that nobody can take away, because God is its source and guarantee. Without this discovery we will always be restricted in some way and will never taste true happiness. Author Jacques Philippe develops a simple but important theme: we gain possession of our interior freedom in exact proportion to our growth in faith, hope, and love. He explains that the dynamism between these three theological virtues is the heart of the spiritual life, and he underlines the key role of the virtue of hope in our inner growth.

Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary: Unveiling the Mother of the Messiah
Bestselling author of Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist casts new light on the Virgin Mary, illuminating her role in the Old and New Testaments. Are Catholic teachings on Mary really biblical? Or are they the traditions of men? Should she be called the Mother of God, or just the mother of Jesus? Did she actually remain a virgin her whole life or do the brothers of Jesus refer to her other children? By praying to Mary, are Catholics worshipping her? And what does Mary have to do with the quest to understand Jesus? In Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary, Dr. Pitre takes readers step-by-step from the Garden of Eden to the Book of Revelation to reveal how deeply biblical Catholic beliefs about Mary really are. Dr. Pitre uses the Old Testament and Ancient Judaism to unlock how the Bible itself teaches that Mary is in fact the new Eve, the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and Earth, and the new Ark of the Covenant.
